words from Miss Emily Dickinson

I found this poem while searching for a visual aid to accompany Their Eyes were Watching God in APCOMP, and I thought it lovely, though not quite right for the novel. I actually ended up choosing a very sappy Celine Dion song (My Heart Will Go On... I know. Cue the gagh. But it fit!)

Anyways, I really love this poem. I hope you guys do too!

Proof

That I did always love,
I bring thee proof:
That till I loved
I did not love enough.

That I shall love always,
offer thee
That love is life,
And life hath immortality.

This, dost thou doubt, sweet?
Then have I
Nothing to show
But Calvary.
